The story...

Ben (B.Lin Catering's founder and CEO) has created a special menu to celebrate the legacy of his grandfather, Gong Gong, a first generation Chinese immigrant who escaped communist China in the 1950's and settled in Norfolk, Virginia. After several years of long hours worked in a laundromat - where he slept on the floor at night to save money - he was able to finally save up enough money to bring his family over and start his own restaurant, which eventually became one of the most popular Chinese restaurants in Norfolk, VA until a fire prematurely shut the restaurant down in the late 70s.

Despite the restaurant's closing, Gong Gong instilled in Ben a love of cooking and an appreciation for the tireless work that immigrants from all walks of life perform in pursuit of a better life for their families. As the national conversation around immigration has taken a dark and dangerous turn, this supper club will be a chance to support the increasingly harsh reality faced by many immigrants in this country today. A percentage of proceeds from this year's will be donated to local non-profit organizations that work to support immigrants - including the Central American Resource CenterMany Languages One Voice, and Casa de Maryland
